The book's structure is as follows:

Chapter 1 discusses the concept of partnership in a broad context. Chapter 2 contains strategic considerations with regard to partnership.

In Chapter 3 the following two issues will be detailed:

  • When is partnership useful for a company and, when applied, how does the (desired) partnership relationship look like?
  • What does partnership require from the organizations of the client and the supplier?

The method of analysis of the three case studies will be explained as well and consists of the following five main elements:

  • fitness analysis
  • structure
  • culture
  • management
  • change process

Chapter 4 shows the ideal typical characterization of partnership. In Chapters 5, 6 and 7 successively three case studies will be presented. Chapter 8 contains the conclusions with reference to the three case studies. Chapter 9 provides a summary of the preceding chapters. Finally, in Chapter 10, a number of practical suggestions and instructions with regard to the selection of and the agreement with suppliers are provided.
